Pictoribus, fabris erariis ac lignariis quatuor his suarum institutionum geometricarum libris, lineas, superficies et solida corpora tractavit. Paris : Chrestien Wechel, 1532.
USTC 181404 ; Brunet, II, col. 912-913 ; Graesse, II, p. 452 ; PMM, n°54 (pour l’édition originale de 1525) : « The Renaissance established a completely different aesthetic theory : the work of art as a representation of a natural object. The connexion of the beautiful with the natural, of the work of art with what is correct was a typical concept of the Renaissance. In the illustration of these principles lies the great historical importance of Dürer’s theoretical writings. They were the foundation of accepted aesthetic dogma until the nineteenth century”.
In-folio (302 x 204 mm).
