Post lot text
David Mach's monumental sculptures began to appear in the 1980's, giving the artist a prominent role on the contemporary art scene in the UK. Taking the title of a song by Al Hoffman from 1952, the message of the work invites agreement, a shared and combined effort to act. A phrase that has entered 20th century geopolitical posterity, "it takes two to tango" was used by Ronald Reagan in his speech about the US relationship with the USSR. David Mach has been exhibited in Scotland, at the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture in Edinburgh in 2019, but also in Japan, London, New York and Paris.
