Post lot text
Born in California in 1939, Richard Jackson is one of the most influential figures in American art during the 1970s. Using installations and site-specific works, he likes to deconstruct the concept and practice of painting. This is particularly true of his sculptures —such as the one in the collection of the Count and Countess Jean-Jacques de Flers— which follow this principle of diversion: thus, the artist conceives animals into which he allows paint to flow in and out through pipes, funnels or orifices. His work was exhibited in 1988 at the Menil Collection in Houston, in 1992 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and at the Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois Gallery in 2014.
