A LACQUERED WOOD STANDING FIGURE OF AN AMIDA TRIAD
Japan, Edo period Wood. H. 59 cm. The central figure of Amitabha stands on a lotus platform with robes and detachable nimbus in gold lacquer, accompanied by two attendants Seishi and Kannon bowing down in a greeting position for welcoming and escorting the dying devotee back to the Western Paradise. With traces of age, partially damaged. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia, family-owned since the 1960s.
