This drawing is a preparatory study for the famous portrait de Jeanne-Marie-Thérèse Tallien (1773-1835), née Cabarrus, Princess of Caraman-Chimay, today in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris (fig. 1; inv. P2738), an autograph replica of which is at the Château de Versailles (inv. MV4863; see C. Constans, Les Peintures. Musée national du château de Versailles, Paris, 1995, I, no. 2077, ill.).

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
