Rare first edition of this work on the Genoese noble families dedicated to Prince Andrea Doria and completely illustrated by Jerome David. The elaborate armorial plates depict the coats of arms of the families that were admitted to the government of the Republic divided into their respective "28 Alberghi" which are aggregations of several noble families who were in charge of the government of the municipality.

Folio (475 x 350mm). Allegorical half-title, dedicatory plate within architectural border, portrait of the author, title with typographical indications within cartouche and bird's eye view of the city of Genoa, 2 unnumbered plates, 30 numbered plates (two plates both numbered "I "), 4 index leaves (some light marginal staining but good impressions, index lightly spotted). Modern calf binding preserving the original front cover decorated in blindstamp and gilt (integrated and repaired, modern guards).
