Das Instrument ruht auf drei Säulenbeinen mit einem Pedalsteg zwischen den beiden vorderen Beinen, welcher zwei Pedale trägt. Das Instrument ist optisch schlicht gehalten und besitzt ein passendes Notenpult.
Mittig auf dem Resonanzboden über dem Hammerschacht ist die Herstellervignette aufgeklebt. Auf dieser ist die Werknummer 57 vermerkt. Es ist noch ein weiterer Hammerflügel von Johann Heilmann (ex. Colt - Collection Bethersden) bekannt. Dieser trägt die Werknummer 64.
Das Instrument besitzt drei Mutationen: Dämpfungsaufhebung, Verschiebung (beides im Pedal) und Fagott (Kniehebel). Diese funktionieren zuverlässig.
Das Instrument besitzt eine Wiener Mechanik sowie eine Stiefeldämpfung. Die Klaviatur (FF-c4) hat ein Stichmaß von 46,5cm. Die Hämmerchen sind beledert. Der Flügel hat einen geteilten Steg (FF-E und F-c4) und ist durchgehend zweichörig besaitet.

The instrument rests on three pillar legs with a pedal bridge between the two front legs, which carries two pedals. The instrument is visually simple and has a matching music stand.
The maker's vignette is glued to the centre of the soundboard above the hammer shaft. The number 57 is written on the vignette. Another fortepiano by Johann Heilmann (ex. Colt - Collection Bethersden) is known. This one bears the serial number 64.
The instrument has three mutations: Damper lift, shift (both in the pedal) and bassoon (knee lever). They work reliably.
The instrument has a Viennese action as well as a Viennese damping. The keyboard (FF-c4) has a 3-octave-span of 46.5cm. The hammers are covered with leather. The piano has a split bridge (FF-E and F-c4) and is double strung throughout.
