Signed lower left (on the parapet). Watercolour and opaque paints on ivory. Image size: 11.4 x 8.8 cm. Ivory plate cracked. Brass frame (12.9 x 1.3 cm), mounted in a brown leather-covered case (16.5 x 13.7 cm).
Ferdinand war der älteste Sohn von Prinz Ferdinand von Sachsen-Coburg-Koháry (1785-1851) und Maria Antonie Gabriele Koháry de Csábrág et Szitnya (1797-1862). 1836 vermählte er sich mit der verwitweten Königin Maria II. von Portugal (1819 Rio de Janeiro - 1853 Lissabon). Der Ehe entstammten elf Kinder.
