Post lot text
Exhibited mainly in Portugal but also in Spain, Germany and France, Jorge Queiroz received the drawing prize from the Daniel & Florence Guerlain Contemporary Art Foundation in 2018. He participated in the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, as well as the 26th Sao Paulo Biennale in 2004 and the 4th Berlin Contemporary Art Biennial in 2016. On the borderline between abstraction and figuration, his works are imbued with a form of surrealist dreaminess, sometimes mystical too — such as Untitled, inviting the viewer to plunge with the artist into a world ready to be decoded, in which depth of field and perspective are one and the same, and where spatial dimensions are inhabited by creatures that are half human, half robotic.
