FOUR PORCELAIN DINING PLATES FROM THE SERVICE OF THE GRAND DUKE KONSTANTINE NIKOLAYEVICH OF RUSSIA.

Imperial Porcelain Manufacture. St. Petersburg.

Date: Period Nicholas I of Russia (1848-1855).
Maker/Designer: Model F.G. Solnzew, 1848.
Technique: Porcelain, enriched in colours, golden.
Description: In the centre of the slightly fluted plates is an ornamental band decoration, which is
based on the formal language of old Russian enamel work. On the rim, a cartouche with the
imperial double-headed eagle and a cartouche with the monogram of the Grand Duke 'BKKH'
face each other. In the intervening sections there are two mirror medallions and small
ornamental decorations above two surrounding blue double lines.
Measurement: ø 23,7cm.
Mark: Manufacture mark: Ligated monogram N I (Cyrillic.) under Crown, painted blue under glaze. Painter's marks and cameo mark.
