Exemplaire de premier tirage, en veau de l’époque, avec une chaîne de provenances anglaises remontant au XVIIIe siècle.
4 vol. in-folio (412 x 265 mm). 1 gravure allégorique avec buste de La Fontaine par Oudry, terminé par Dupuis et gravé par Cochin, 1 portrait de Oudry gravé par Tardieu d’après Largillière, et 275 planches hors-texte gravées par Chedel, Cochin, Dupuis, Fessard, Le Bas, et d'autres artistes d'après Oudry, nombreux culs-de-lampe. Veau caramel de l’époque, plats ornés de légers filets à froid obliques, roulette dorée en encadrement, dos lisse orné, pièces de titre et tomaison de maroquin, gardes de papier marbré, tranches dorées, étuis recouverts de papier marbré.
Provenance : dans le premier volume, ex-dono manuscrit de la fin du XVIIIe siècle : « I give these four volumes to my daughter Charlotte White. February 7th 1789. Nathanael Chauncy ». Nathaniel Chauncy (1717-1790), antiquaire – sa fille, Charlotte Maria Chauncy (1756-1839), qui avait épousé Thomas White en 1779 – ex-libris héraldique de William Baker -- ex-libris héraldique non identifié.
First issue, in contemporary calf, of this most famous edition. The copy sports English provenance markings dating from the late 18th century.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
