Superbe exemplaire, en maroquin rouge à la dentelle de l'époque, de l'un des plus beaux livres du XVIIIe siècle.
L'édition est restée célèbre pour les gravures qui l'illustrent, réalisées d'après Jean-Baptiste Oudry. « Les passions que les autres peintres impriment sur des têtes humaines, il les a fait passer dans celles des animaux, auxquelles son pinceau a prêté avec énergie des traits propres et caractéristiques. On dira, en quelque manière, que ce peintre s’est instruit dans l’étude de la nature, comment un Lion, un Loup, […] rient, pleurent, ou menacent. » (Journal des sçavants, août 1754. p. 571). Les dessins originaux ont été retravaillés et retouchés spécialement pour la gravure avant publication, sous la direction de Charles-Nicolas Cochin fils (1715-1790). Frontispice allégorique avec buste de la Fontaine d'après Oudry, terminé par Dupuis et gravé par Cochin, 1 portrait d'Oudry gravé par Tardieu d'après Largillière, et 275 planches hors texte, gravées par Chedel, Cochin, Dupuis, Fessard, Le Bas, et d'autres artistes d'après Oudry, nombreux culs-de-lampe, vignettes de titre. Reliure de l'époque en maroquin rouge, dentelle aux petits fers sur les plats, avec vases en écoinçons, dos à nerfs, caissons ornés, gardes de papier marbré, tranches dorées.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
