Dédié à Hippolyte d'Este, cardinal de Ferrare, fils de Lucrèce Borgia et Alphonse d'Este, l'ouvrage restitue les festins organisés par Messisbugo pour ce mécène et d'autres membres de sa famille. Un grand bois illustre l'un de ces repas, plusieurs chiens se régalant des restes au premier plan, tandis qu'une autre planche donne à voir l'intérieur des cuisines pendant la préparation du banquet. Le recueil de recettes occupant la seconde partie documente la cuisine italienne de l'époque : parmi les diverses sortes de pizzas, pâtes, raviolis, sauces et charcuteries, on peut citer les macaronis à la napolitaine, la mortadelle jaune ou les beignets aux noix. Outre les recettes, l'auteur aborde des considérations logistiques, telles que les ustentiles de cuisine ou l'approvisionnement. Messisbugo, dont le portrait gravé se trouve au dos du titre, officia au service des ducs Alphonse et Hercule d'Este de 1524 à 1548 et fut élevé au rang de comte palatin par Charles Quint en 1533. De la bibliothèque d'Arthur Coke Burnell (1840-1882), spécialiste et collectionneur de manuscrits sanskrits, puis de Harry Schraemli (1904-1995). In-8 (201 x 148 mm). Illustré de 3 gravures sur bois, dont un portrait de l'auteur au verso du titre, une planche représentant un festin et une planche figurant l'intérieur d'une cuisine. La grande marque à la tortue de l'imprimeur, gravée en fin d'ouvrage, est répétée après la table. Lettrines et culs-de-lampe gravés. Annotations manuscrites à l'encre en marges : chiffres romains à côté de certaines recettes (titre restauré, rares taches et rousseurs, déchirure restaurée en marge du dernier feuillet de la table). Reliure du XIXe siècle : demi-basane lie de vin, double encadrement de filets à froid, dos à nerfs orné de filets dorés (dos passé, charnière fendue le long du premier plat). Sous étui moderne.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
