Artiste américaine de premier plan de la seconde moitié du XXème siècle, Nancy Spero a été exposée parmi les musées les plus importants, et a rejoint les collections de nombreuses institutions dont le MoMA de New York, le Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), le New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York), le Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington), le musée d'art contemporain de Los Angeles, à la National Gallery of Canada, à la National Gallery of Art de Washington, la Tate Gallery à Londres, au Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia de Madrid, au musée d'art moderne de la ville de Paris ainsi qu’au Centre Georges Pompidou et dans de nombreux autres musées. Féministe engagée, Nancy Spero n’a cessé de s’engager en revenant aux sources de la place de la femme dans la Préhistoire, l’Antiquité, l’Égypte ancienne et jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Elle a reçu le prix Hiroshima Art Prize, avec son mari Leon Golub, en 1996.

‌A leading American artist of the second half of the 20th century, Nancy Spero has been exhibited in some of the most important museums, and has joined the collections of many institutions including MoMA in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), the New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York), the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the National Gallery of Canada, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Tate Gallery in London, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Centre Georges Pompidou and many other museums. A committed feminist, Nancy Spero has never ceased to engage with the sources of women's place in prehistory, antiquity, ancient Egypt and even today. She received the Hiroshima Art Prize, with her husband Leon Golub, in 1996.
