Napoléon confirme au ministre de l'Intérieur la nomination de l'architecte Pierre Fontaine (1762-1853).
"La carrière napoléonienne de Fontaine commence véritablement en décembre 1799, lorsqu'il est chargé avec son confrère [Charles] Percier des travaux d'aménagement de Malmaison et qu'il est présenté à cette occasion au Premier Consul par David. C'est le début d'une immédiate sympathie qui ne se démentira pas entre le Premier Consul puis l'Empereur et celui qui reçoit en 1813 le titre de premier architecte de l'Empereur" (Tulard, I, p. 810). Nommé en janvier 1801 architecte du gouvernement, Fontaine est ensuite élevé, le 13 décembre 1804, à la charge d'architecte du palais des Tuileries, du Louvre et de ses dépendances, des manufactures impériales des Gobelins et de la Savonnerie, et des autres bâtiments intra muros rattachés à la Couronne. Le 25 avril 1813, Fontaine sera nommé Premier Architecte de l'empereur.
"Percier et Fontaine" sont universellement considérés comme les créateurs du style Empire.

Letter signed by Napoléon, confirming the nomination of Pierre Fontaine as Architect-in-Chief, notably responsible for architectural works and interventions to be made on the Louvre, the Tuileries, Imperial manufactures and other official premises. Together with his fellow colleague and friend Charles Percier, Pierre Fontaine is recognized as the inventor of the Directoire style and Empire style.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
