Édition originale. Un des 20 exemplaires de tête, avec l'eau-forte originale de Picasso, Portrait de Paul Éluard.
Publié au sortir de la guerre, alors que le poète vient d'être décoré de la médaille de la Résistance, le recueil rassemble des poèmes écrits depuis 1940 et publiés dans la clandestinité sous divers pseudonymes, comme Jean du Haut ou Maurice Hervent. "La haine de l'oppresseur, le martyre de l'otage, la colère de l'innocent sont les thèmes douloureux et obsédants de ce recueil." (H.-J. Dupuy, Renaissances, mai 1945, n° 10, p. 149). Nous n'avons pu localiser que 2 autres exemplaires de tête en vente publique ces 30 dernières, l'un en 2016, relié par Martin, le second en 2019, aussi relié par Martin.

In-8 (210 x 131 mm). Tirage limité à 120 exemplaires sur pur fil, celui-ci l'un des 20 exemplaires de tête comprenant l'eau-forte de Picasso, n° 19. Signé au crayon par l'artiste à la justification. Illustré d'une eau-forte originale de Pablo Picasso en frontispice. Avec trois corrections autographes à l'encre par Paul Éluard aux pages 16, 18 et 20, comme sur plusieurs exemplaires de l'édition originale. Reliure signée de Rose Adler, datée 1949 : plats bipartites de box gris et vert amande, jonction sur le dos, chaque plat mosaïqué d'un rectangle de box chocolat se superposant à un rectangle de box anthracite, chacun évidé de cartouches laissant partiellement voir le box des plats ou mosaïqués de box corail, titre au palladium et filets corail sur le dos, doublure de box corail et gardes de daim noir, tranches au palladium, couverture et dos conservés. Sous chemise et étui.
First edition. One of the 20 deluxe copies, the only ones comprising the etching by Picasso, this copy with 3 autograph corrections by Éluard and beautifully bound by Rose Adler.

Choose a lot from the upcoming auction and the maximum amount you want to place on it. After confirmation of your choice, we will send your application by e-mail to the appropriate auction house. If the auction house accepts a request, it will participate in the auction. You can view the current status of a bid at any time in your personal account in the "Bids" section.
Auctions are performed by auction houses and each of the auction houses describes their terms of auction. You can see the texts in the section "Auction information".
The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
