Writing in haste about the impending first Paris performance of Tannhäuser. 'The first performance of Tannhäuser is fixed for 22 February: it may be postponed – I cannot say today'. He regrets having missed her visit and sends his best regards to Kreutzer.
The first Paris performance of Tannhäuser was in the event postponed until 13 March, and proved to be a legendary debacle. Not in Sämtliche Briefe; WBV 2918; TNG, xxvi, p.936.
