SOUTHERN DUTCH MASTER (?) Tätig, Mitte 15. Jahrhundert MAN OF SORROWS Tempera/oil on panel, partially heightended with gold. 79 cm x 48 cm. Part. old restored. Retouching (specially on the upper and side edges), slightly contour additions. The painting of the man of sorrows with knee donation, which is collected by the Metropolitan Museum in New York, shows a variant of the same theme created at the same time and comparable in composition. Another version of the same theme of The Master of the Holy Kinship, which dated a little earlier was auctioned in London 2018: See Sotheby's, London. Old Master Auction Evening Sale from 05 December 2018, lot. no. 8. Provenance: South German Private Collection.

Part. altrest, Retuschen (besonders an den oberen und seitlichen Rändern), leichte Konturergänzungen. Eine zeitgleich entstandene und kompositorisch vergleichbare Variante desselben Themas zeigt das Gemälde des Schmerzensmannes mit Knien Spende, welches sich heute in der Sammlung des Metropolitan Museum in New York befindet. Eine weitere, etwas früher entstandene Variante des gleichen Themas des Meisters der heiligen Sippe wurde 2018 in London versteigert: Vgl. Auktionshaus Sotheby's, London. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
