Diese Holzskulptur hampatong ist aus einem Stück Eisenholz (belian, Eusideroxylon zwageri) gearbeitet. Dies ist ein Kunstwerk von hoher Individualität. Bei diesem hampatong ist eine Janus-Figur (doppelgeschlechtlich) das Hauptmotiv, deren männlicher Part einen Fisch in der Hand hält. Die weibliche Seite der Skulptur berührt ihren Nabel, ein Hinweis auf Geburt, Fruchtbarkeit und Lebenskraft. Die männliche Seite mit dem Fisch in der Hand steht symbolisch in Verbindung zur Ernährung der Sippe durch den Jäger und Fischer, männliche Tätigkeiten, wobei der Fisch auch eine phallische Komponente hat. Über der Janusfigur krallt sich ein eigenartiges doppeltes Mischwesen an den tragenden Stamm, eine Kombination zwischen Mensch, Dämon und aquatischem aso-Drachen, wobei der zum „Janus“ weisende aso die Jenseitswelt bewacht und beherrscht und für die Erneuerung von Leben zuständig ist. Er wird „gefüttert“ durch die Kopfjagd, die immer neues Leben in sein Reich übermittelt, welches durch die Schaman:Innen manang dann in Fruchtbarkeit und Erneuerung umgewidmet werden kann. Der abstrakte Stil des aso verweist deutlich auf die sehr bemerkenswerte Kunsttradition Ost-Kalimantans. Der belian-Baum ist ein immergrüner, sehr langsam wüchsiger Baum mit dichter Krone, der auf Borneo und Sumatra über 50 Meter hoch wird. Der Stammdurchmesser erreicht 150-250 Zentimeter (bis 5,7 Meter wurden beobachtet). Der Baum kann über 1000, wahrscheinlich sogar 2000 Jahre alt werden und ist den Dajak heilig. Das Holz weist eine extreme Dichte und Dauerhaftigkeit auf. Hampatong nennt man Ahnen- und Schutzfiguren aus dessen Holz, die aufgrund der Härte des Materials beste (Stahl-)Werkzeuge und Können voraussetzen. Sie werden von allen Dayak-Gruppen als Erinnerungs-Skulpturen für Verstorbene auf den Begräbnisstätten oder als Wächter vor den Langhäusern aufgestellt.
