Véritable édition originale. Après sa rupture avec Frédéric II (1754), Voltaire se retire à Ferney, près de Genève, et la maison Cramer devient son principal éditeur. Publié clandestinement sous le pseudonyme « Dr Ralph », en 1759, Candide est secrètement diffusé aux quatre coins de l’Europe, les premiers exemplaires étant expédiés à Paris et Amsterdam. Composée sur le manuscrit original de l'auteur, imprimée à Genève dès janvier 1759, l’édition des Cramer est reconnue comme l’édition princeps dont on recense plus d’une quinzaine de contrefaçons, publiées à la même date, dans le même format et avec une page de titre identique, sans nom de ville ni mention d’imprimeur.
Conforme à toutes les caractéristiques typographiques relevées au fil des ans par les bibliographes, cet exemplaire est bien issu du tout premier tirage genevois. After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
