First Italian edition, translated by Ludovico Dolce, of these Turkish epistles attributed to Mehmet II, but in reality a literary invention by Laudivio Zacchia. The writings are intended to represent the correspondence between Mohammed II, conqueror of Constantinople and Byzantium, and the governors of Persia, Greece, Italy and the Mediterranean islands, highlighting their ambition and showing the political and ethical differences between the Christian and Muslim world.
