Hermann Reimer is a contemporary German painter. One focus of Hermann Reimer's paintings is the pictorial representation of interior spaces. At first these were deserted hotel rooms, holiday apartments or living rooms, with Reimer using photographs researched on the Internet. However, Reimer is not concerned with simply copying an already existing picture, but rather using the distributions of furniture or other objects in the photos as a stimulus for the development of independent pictorial spaces. Although the photographic templates relate to current existing rooms, Reimer's pictures sometimes have something from the past about them, as if you are in rooms that have not been changed for a long time. Some of the things depicted seem like quotations from films or catalogues. In recent years, the rooms have increasingly opened up to the outside, with the interior and exterior seeming to merge into one another. Increasing numbers of people also appear on the stage depicted. Parallel to the group of works listed above, landscapes are created in the warmer seasons, which are painted directly on site - i.e. plein air.
