Louis-Marie Lanté

Louis-Marie Lanté was a French painter, fashion illustrator and engraver.

Lanté was the most prolific artist of the famous Journal des Dames et des Modes, for which he painted watercolor models of outfits. He was also involved in the production of large-format board suites, which were also published in this journal and others. Among them engraved by Georges-Jacques Gatine images of regional costumes, especially Normandy, costumes of foreign countries, historical costumes, in particular "French gallery of women, famous for their talents or beauty, or portraits, drawn engraved and colored".

Thanks to Lante has created an invaluable record of elegant and refined women's and men's attire of the 18th and 19th centuries.
