August von Kreling
August von Kreling was a German painter of the mid-nineteenth century. He is known as a historical painter and sculptor, as well as a teacher.
August von Kreling created a number of famous works of art. In architecture, these include the Water Genius Fountain for the city of Cincinnati, the statue of Prince Heinrich-Posthumus Reis, and the Kepler Monument. In painting, he created plafonds for the Hanover Theater, designs for the frescoes of the Nuremberg Palace, and illustrations for Goethe's Faust. Kreling also directed the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts and promoted art and industrial education in Bavaria.
