Johann Hermann Kretzschmer
Johann Hermann Kretzschmer was a German painter of the 19th century. He is known as a painter and etching artist, a representative of the Düsseldorf school of painting.
Kretzschmer began with genre paintings in the Romantic style. After a trip to the Mediterranean (1840-1841), he turned to depicting the everyday life of the East. Among his famous works are "Breakfast in the Desert", "Caravan Caught by Samum", "The Return of the Caravan of God-fearers", "The Huts of the Fellahs in the Temple of Luxor". Later he also painted historical, humorous and children's scenes and portraits. In addition to painting, Kretzschmer also did etching and painted watercolors.
