Paul Eduard Richard Sohn was a German painter of the last third of the 19th and early 20th centuries. He is known as a genre painter and portraitist, a representative of the Düsseldorf school of painting.
Richard Sohn was the son of the famous painter Karl Ferdinand Sohn. He created successful genre paintings, many of which he sold in the United States. In the 1870s, he also began to paint portraits, among others a portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm I. He later worked mainly in portraiture. He later worked primarily on portraits.
Sohn was a member of the Malkasten group of progressive artists.
