Roman Maximovich Volkov (Russian: Роман Максимович Волков) was a Russian artist of the first third of the 19th century. He is known as a painter, portraitist and genre painter of academic direction.
Roman Volkov created a series of portraits of famous figures of his time, among which the portrait of Emperor Alexander I occupies a special place, which was declared the standard for decorating state institutions. The artist also created a number of works on mythological and evangelical themes, written in full accordance with the canons of the academic school.
