Charles-Frederic Dubois was a Belgian naturalist, artist and author of books on birds and butterflies.
Based on the results of his study of birds and scales of Belgium, Academician Dubois wrote Planches colorées des oiseaux de l'Europe ("Colored Plates of Birds of Europe") and Catalog systématique des Lépidoptères de la Belgique ("Systematic Catalog of Scales of Belgium"), which after his death was completed by his son Alphonse Joseph Charles Dubois (1839-1921).
Alphonse Dubois, full name Alphonse Joseph Charles Dubois, was a Belgian naturalist and physician.
Alphonse Dubois had a doctorate in medicine and in 1869 became curator of vertebrate animals at the Royal Museum of Natural History in Brussels. He worked with his father, the academician Charles-Frédéric Dubois (1804-1867), on the publication Les Oiseaux de l'Europe et leurs œufs (The Birds of Europe and their Eggs), completing it after his father's death. The book consisted of two volumes, the second of which consisted of illustrations by Dubois Sr.

Ferdinand Kobell was a German painter of the second half of the eighteenth century. He is known as a painter, graphic artist, printmaker and landscape painter.
Kobell painted landscapes inspired by the style of Nicholas Berchem. His oil paintings are in many German galleries, but he was much more skillful, according to critics, in conveying the states of nature with an engraving needle. Kobbel is considered a master of landscape etchings, which are recognized as some of the best of the 18th century.
Kobell had seven children, including Wilhelm von Kobell, who also became a landscape, animalist and battle painter.

Nikolay Petrovich Bogdanov-Belsky (Russian: Николай Петрович Богданов-Бельский) was a renowned Russian artist, celebrated for his genre paintings depicting the education of peasant children, as well as portraits and impressionistic landscapes. Born in 1868 in Shitiki, Smolensk Governorate, Bogdanov-Belsky added "Belsky" to his surname from the district where he was born. His academic journey in art began at the Semyon Rachinsky fine art school, followed by studies at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, and later at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.
Throughout his career, Bogdanov-Belsky was an active participant in Russian artistic circles, becoming a member of the Peredvizhniki from 1895 and the Arkhip Kuindzhi Society from 1909. His works often centered around the themes of rural education and childhood, capturing the subtle interplay of light and shadow and the innocence of his subjects. Notable works include "Mental Arithmetic, in the Rachinsky School" (1895) and "Sunday reading in a village school" (1895), which reflect his deep engagement with the theme of education.
After the Soviet Union came into power, the political climate and the disfavor towards realism compelled him to move to Riga, Latvia in 1921, where he continued his artistic endeavors until his death in Berlin in 1945 due to an Allied bombing during World War II.
For collectors and enthusiasts of Russian art, Bogdanov-Belsky's works offer a poignant glimpse into pre-Soviet Russian culture and education. His paintings are not only aesthetically pleasing but also historically significant, capturing the essence of a bygone era. Jacques Bellange was an artist and printmaker from the Duchy of Lorraine (then independent but now part of France) whose etchings and some drawings are his only securely identified works today. They are among the most striking Northern Mannerist old master prints, mostly on Catholic religious subjects, and with a highly individual style. He worked for fourteen years in the capital, Nancy as court painter to two Dukes of Lorraine, before dying at the age of about forty, and almost all his prints were produced in the three or four years before his death. None of his paintings are known to have survived, but the prints have been known to collectors since shortly after his death, though they were out of critical favour for most of this period. In the 20th century they have been much more highly regarded, although Bellange is still not a well-known figure.
