Matvey Genrikhovich Manizer (Russian: Матвей Генрихович Манизер) was a twentieth-century Russian and Soviet sculptor of German origin. He is known as the author of many monumental works as well as a teacher.
At the beginning of his career, Matvey Manizer created sculptures on biblical and mythological themes. But he became famous as a monumentalist. The master's work, which was formed in the strict traditions of the academic school, became one of the typical manifestations of socialist realism in Soviet sculpture. He was the author of a whole series of monuments to state, cultural and scientific figures, as well as to heroes of the USSR. He also created more than 20 figures for the Moscow Metro stations.
Manizer was the husband of Yelena Yanson-Manizer, a famous Soviet sculptor and artist.
