Two seals of the artist
Inscribed and signed by Wu Hufan (1894–1968), with one seal
Dated spring, leap second month, dinghai year (1947)
Dedicated to Songsun (Bei Zuyi, 1893-1982)

NOTE:
A well-respected artist and cousin of I.M. Pei, Bei Yushao studied under the noted twentieth century Chinese artist Wu Hufan. In Wu’s inscription, he records that this hanging scroll was a copy of an existing work by him which Bei had painted for her uncle Bei Zuyi (Tsuyee Pei), who was I.M. Pei’s father.
