Fehrle, Jakob Wilhelm: Devotional young woman, 1950s. Bronze, green patina, on bronze plinth. At the Base monogrammed.

Provenance: Private Property Baden-Württemberg. Girls and women were the main subject in the work of the 1884 in Schwäbisch Gmünd-born sculptor, painter and draughtsman Jacob Fehrle.His artistic career began Fehrle in 1899, when he began training as a Chase at the company Erhard & sons. From 1903 to 1905 he studied at the art Academy in Berlin under Paul Meyerheim. Later he continued his studies at the Academy of fine art in Munich, Balthasar Schmitt. Between 1909 and 1910, he was to study in Rome. - Determine Fehrles artistic development of his Paris residence from 1911 to 1914 was not, here he learned only artists such as Karl Albiker, Georg Kolbe, Wilhelm Lehmbruck, Aristide Maillol, Pablo Picasso, and Paul Klee, but here he found "with an open mind for the New," said Fehrle, in retrospect, to be an own language of form. - In 1918, the artist moved back to his hometown and remained there until his death in 1974.
