Post lot text FRANÇOIS BOUCHER, TWO PUTTI, RED AND WHITE CHALKThe theme of putti is a recurrent one for François Boucher, especially amongst his collections of etchings of Groupes d'enfants. These two nude putti, depicted warming themselves around a fire, are part of this collection and related to a lost painting, L'hiver, dated 1744. L'hiver is part of a series of the four seasons and was described in the sale of the Roland collection on April 13, 1780 as 'some children warming themselves in the countryside where the trees are stripped of their leaves' (Ananoff, op. cit., 1976, I, nos 275-278). This composition is known from an engraving by Antoine Jean Duclos (1742-1795) in reverse (P. Jean-Richard, L'Œuvre gravé de François Boucher dans la Collection Edmond de Rothschild, Paris, 1978, no. 907). We thank Françoise Joulie and Alastair Laing for confirming the attribution after visual examination of the work.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
