Provenance research report by Dr. Sibylle Ehringhaus, March 2024 available. According to this report and verifiable on the basis of the relevant adhesive labels and numbering on the painting verso, the following chain of provenance emerges: 1890s to early 1930s: unknown private owner, probably Munich. - Early 1930s to mid 1930s: from unknown private owner to Maria Almas-Dietrich, Munich. - Mid-1930s to 1939: Art dealer Maria Almas-Dietrich, Munich, then in the "Sonderauftrag Linz". - 1939-1945: State property "Sonderauftrag Linz". Führerbau Munich. Relocation to Kremsmünster, Upper Austria. Relocation to Altaussee, Styria. Central Collecting Point, Munich. - 1945 to 1949: taken over by the Central Collecting Point, Munich. Taken over by the Treuhandverwaltung für Kultur (TVK). 1948 Trusteeship of the Bavarian Prime Minister. - 1949 to 1981 Property of the Federal Republic of Germany. - 1981 Federal Republic of Germany to the current owners via Neumeister, Munich, Auction 206, 9-10 December 1981, catalogue number 1267 (with illustration plate 179). - Private owner.
In her research, Sibylle Ehringhaus was unable to identify a previous owner by name until the early 1930s. In 1951, Maria Almas-Dietrich told the American art protection agency that she had owned it "20 years ago," i.e. in 1931.

Auctions are performed by auction houses and each of the auction houses describes their terms of auction. You can see the texts in the section "Auction information".
The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
