Further details
GEORGES LEPAPE, THE BUNCH OF FLOWERS, GRAPHITE, WATERCOLOUR AND BODYCOLOUR, SIGNED, LOCATED AND DATED 1926
Lepape worked here for Woman's Home Companion (March 1927, p.104), an American magazine founded in 1873. The drawing was used to illustrate a ‘Nile green’ crepe de Chine ensemble designed by the stylist and fashion house directress Nicole Groult and a cloche hat by Le Monnier. A renowned couturier who was close to the avant-garde with her partner Marie Laurencin and her friend Isadora Duncan, Nicole Groult made a major contribution to reinventing women's clothing and promoting garçonne fashion (Paul Poiret et Nicole Groult, maîtres de la mode Art Déco, cat. exp. Palais Galliera, Paris, 1986, p. 211).
