Post lot text JEAN-CLAUDE NAIGEON, TEMPLE OF MINERVA AT THE NERVA FORUM, GRAPHITE, PEN AND BLACK INKOriginally from Dijon, the pupil of François Devosge, Nicolas-Guy Brenet and then Gabriel-François Doyen, Jean-Claude Naigeon developed his artistic skills at the Royal Academy and in his native city, where he exhibited between 1770 and 1780. The National Gallery of Art of Washington has one of the forty-six studies, of which the present drawing is also a part of, cited as 'studio of' the artist until their rediscovery in 2012 : Timoléon and the Residents of Syracuse (inv. 2012.62.1).
