Édition majeure des œuvres de Molière, illustrée par Boucher, cet exemplaire en reliure anglaise armoriée. Brunet, III, col. 1798 ; Cohen-DeRicci, col. 712 – 713 : « Le chef-d’œuvre de Boucher, comme illustration ; c’est l’un des plus beaux livres de la première partie du XVIIIe siècle. »

6 vol. in-4 (294 x 223 mm) richement illustrés. En tout 1 portrait gravé par Lépicié d’après Coypel, 1 fleuron sur le titre (répété dans chaque volume), 33 figures gravées par Laurent Cars d’après Boucher, 198 vignettes et culs-de-lampe (dont plusieurs se répètent) d’après Boucher, Blondel et Oppenord.
Reliure anglaise (de la fin du XVIIIe siècle ?) frappée aux armes de J. H Hutchinson : veau fauve raciné, triple filet et écoinçons en encadrement des plats, au centre le blason surmontant la devise « Fortiter gerit crucem », dos à nerfs orné de motifs géométriques, pièce de titre de maroquin rouge et tomaison de maroquin noir, roulette sur les coupes et la doublure, contreplat et garde de papier marbré, marbrures rouges sur les tranches. Étui couvert d’un papier marbré différent.
Provenance : plusieurs ex-libris, du XVIIIe siècle à nos jours : John Bebb (« Praemium virtutis honos »), George Wyndham (« Au bon droit »), J. H Hutchinson (« Fortiter gerit crucem ») et un ex-libris armorié non-identifié.
