[SIXTH JESUIT RELATION] – LE JEUNE, Paul (1591-1664). Relation de ce qui s'est passé en La Nouvelle France en l'année 1637. Envoyée au R. Père Provincial de la Compagnie de Jésus en la Province de France [and] LE MERCIER, Joseph (1604-1690). Relation de ce qui s'est passé au pays des Hurons en l'Année 1637. Rouen: Jean le Boullenger, 1638.

First edition of Sixth Jesuit Relation, with cancel leaves. The second part contains Le Mercier's report on the Huron mission. This is the only one of the Relations printed by Jean le Boullenger, who did not put on a good show: errors abound, producing numerous variants. This copy matches McCoy's variant two, with a few small differences, but all the cancel leaves he mentions: A1 removed, and Bb8 and Ff2 replaced by new leaves glued to the stub of the cancellandum. Octavo (169 x 113mm). Woodcut device on title, folding plate in partial facsimile (plate with about 3/4 supplied in facsimile, one leaf with portion of margin torn away just touching edge of text block, some spotting and dampstaining, a few small repairs with portions of letters supplied in facsimile). Contemporary vellum with flexible boards, title in ink on spine (cover coming loose from text block revealing printer's waste on the spine, edges of boards splitting to reveal painted card beneath, stains).
