Édition originale de cet ouvrage destiné aux « ministres du temple de la douceur, jaloux de [leur] réputation », et relatif à la préparation des confitures, dragées, sirops, sorbets, friandises, chocolats, pastilles, glaces, ratafias, guimauve, etc.



Il se compose de trois parties à pagination continue : la première, par Wirthe, traite des confitures (matériel, choix des ingrédients, recettes), la seconde a pour thème la distillation (laboratoires, procédés d’infusions, etc.), et la dernière partie est consacrée à l’art du limonadier (liqueurs, orangeades, cafés et chocolats, etc.). Illustré d'un frontispice gravé sur bois et d'une planche dépliante dépliante lithographiée in fine (rousseurs, cahiers 16 et 17 brunis, habile restauration angulaire à la planche dépliante). Reliure signée Ateliers Laurenchet : demi-veau cerise, dos lisse orné de filets et fleurons dorés, pièce de titre de maroquin noir, tête dorée.
