Girolamo Scaglia
Girolamo Scaglia was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. He was born in Lucca, and trained there with Pietro Paolini. Among the Lucchese painters of the Baroque period, Scaglia stands out for the peculiar soft line and for the interpretative versatility with which he translates on the canvas the literary and mythological passions of the seventeenth-century intellectual world: works of sacred subject, but also original allegorical personifications and landscapes accurate and lively genre.
