Theodor Esser
Theodor Esser is a German painter. He studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe and worked in Munich from the early 1890s. In 1892 his large-format painting Strik der Hammerschmiede (Loss) caused a sensation at an exhibition in Karlsruhe: the viewers appreciated the realistic subject matter and good painting. In his oeuvre Esser moved on to Impressionism, through plein air painting. In 1911 he held a solo exhibition in Munich. Later his works were often shown at large art exhibitions in Berlin and Dresden.
