Wilhelm von Bemmel
Wilhelm von Bemmel was a Dutch painter of the last quarter of the seventeenth and first third of the eighteenth centuries, the period of the Dutch Golden Age. He is known as a landscape painter who worked in Germany and Italy.
Wilhelm von Bemmel is especially known for his Italian landscapes. In his paintings, he skillfully played with light and shadow to create an intense atmosphere. His early works focused on depicting natural phenomena such as light, fog, and water reflections.
Bemmel is the progenitor of a large dynasty of landscape painters. His works are preserved in all of Germany's major museums.
