Bel exemplaire avec les planches en double état et les cartes rehaussées à l'aquarelle, enrichi de gravures provenant des éditions in-8. L'édition originale parut en 1774, dépourvue d'atlas. On doit la partie philosophique de l'ouvrage à Diderot et Holbach. Une note manuscrite en début d'ouvrage mentionne Renouard – l'exemplaire présent au catalogue de 1831 au n° 3183 a une composition similaire mais la reliure ne correspond pas au présent exemplaire : "toutes les gravures y sont doubles ou triples, avant la lettre et avec eaux-fortes. On a ajouté les gravures plus nombreuses de l'in-8, celles de toutes les éditions antérieures, et l'arrêt de condamnation du 29 mai 1781". Cohen-De Ricci, col. 854 ("Belle édition que les figures de Moreau ont fait préférer").
5 vol. in-4 (295 x 196 mm) dont 1 atlas. Troisième édition. Illustré d'un portrait de Raynal par Cochin gravé par Launay en double état en frontispice du volume 1, 2 autres frontispices aux volumes 2 et 3 et 16 planches gravées d'après Moreau ou Eisen (on a rajouté dans l'exemplaire des planches provenant des éditions in-8), la plupart en double ou triple état. Atlas composé de 50 cartes à double-page, contours rehaussés à la main à l'aquarelle (cartes numérotées de 1 à 49, avec la carte 17bis) et 23 tableaux dépliants. Reliure de Bisiaux : maroquin bleu nuit, triple filet doré en encadrement des plats, dos à nerfs orné de roulettes et petits fers dorés, roulette intérieure dorée, tranches dorées, gardes en parchemin. (piqures et rousseurs éparses, reliure frottée, griffures et accidents aux plats, certains mors fendus avec petits manques de cuir).
Fine copy enriched with plates from the 8° editions, most of them in two or three states, with the maps of the atlas enhanced by hand.

Choose a lot from the upcoming auction and the maximum amount you want to place on it. After confirmation of your choice, we will send your application by e-mail to the appropriate auction house. If the auction house accepts a request, it will participate in the auction. You can view the current status of a bid at any time in your personal account in the "Bids" section.
Auctions are performed by auction houses and each of the auction houses describes their terms of auction. You can see the texts in the section "Auction information".
The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
