A celebration of Neruda's prolific career through his books, typescripts, photographs and prizes. Pablo Neruda was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971, the second Chilean to win this title, ‘for a poetry that with the action of an elemental force brings alive a continent's destiny and dreams’. Such a force is seen in the extent of his publications, spanning themes of political resistance and struggle, personal love and longing, and the intertwining of the human condition with the natural world. His contributions to Ercilla showcase his intellectual and creative range, featuring bold literary criticism—such as a candid reflection on his troubled, regretful relationship with the late poet Vicente Huidobro— and poetic prose inspired by his wide travels as a diplomat. The collection in its entirety is woven together by a blend of the personal and political underpinning Neruda's legacy, maintaining the spirit and passion of a life dedicated to the power of language and love.
