Clemens von Zimmermann
Clemens von Zimmermann was a German painter of the nineteenth century. He is known as a historical painter, teacher, representative of the Düsseldorf school of painting.
Von Zimmermann became famous for frescoes and canvases that decorated royal residences, museums and churches, including Munich's Old Pinakothek. He carried out commissions from kings of Bavaria, including Ludwig I and Maximilian II Joseph. The master was a professor at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, as well as director of the Bavarian Royal Central Gallery and a member of the Munich Christian Art Association.
