Blalla Wolfgang / Wolfgang Ewald Hallmann was a German painter and graphic artist. He deals with fundamental existential questions (religion, sexuality, ...) in a drastic, both blasphemous and obscene manner. Formally, it moves between surrealism, outsider art (Art Brut), folk art and numerous references to art history. In the 1980s, the cycle of "horror pictures" was created. In addition to other techniques, the reverse glass painting known from folk art is characteristic of him. In 1995/1996 Hallmann produced a series of 149 sheets of woodcuts in which he recapitulated his own career under the title “The Way, the Truth and Life”. He was a member of the artist trio around Herbert Haberl and Bernd Wangerin. In 1965 he was a founding member of a traveling theater that later became “Hoffmanns Comic Teater”. Members of this group later formed the rock band Ton Steine Scherben.

At this time, he was considered a major figure in contemporary German art. Though he got his start with abstract paintings, he also became known for making sculptures of all sizes; and while his work initially appears abstract, the titles given sometimes allude to the human body or a landscape. As a trained gold- and silversmith, as well as a glassblower, he always showed an attention to materials and how they could be physically engaged with. He was interested in how his own two hands could affect the painting or sculpture's surface. Traces of the artist's hand appear literally throughout his entire oeuvre, before he lost the battle with liver cancer in 2012.

Karl Otto Götz was a German artist, filmmaker, draughtsman, printmaker, writer and professor of art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He was one of the oldest living and active artists older than 100 years of age and is best remembered for his explosive and complex abstract forms. His powerful, surrealist-inspired works earned him international recognition in exhibitions like documenta II in 1959. Götz never confined himself to one specific style or artistic field. He also explored generated abstract forms through television art. Götz is one of the most important members of the German Art Informel movement.


Franz Ringer is a German painter, graphic designer and sculptor.
Franz Ringer came from an old Munich family of carpenters. At the age of 20 he traveled to Tyrol and Switzerland, enrolled at the Technical University of Aachen, returned to Munich and worked as an assistant to the sculptor Josef von Kramer (1841-1908) for ten years, which shaped him as a master stylistically and technically.
Ringer was one of the best-known decorative arts artists in Munich at the time, and he artistically designed many restaurants in Bavaria and in Munich. His design projects are extremely varied.
Franz Ringer is also known as the creator of stone and glass beer mugs, which he painted in Art Nouveau, Art Deco or Biedermeier style. The first Ringer mugs to go into production were made by Villeroy & Boch in 1905. These mugs quickly became popular with the public, especially at scheduled conferences and festivals. Upon his return to New York in 1966, Smith had gained significant critical acclaim, which led to his mounting a solo exhibition at the Dayton Art Institute in Ohio in 1967 and garnering a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1971. Today, his paintings among the collections of the Stedlijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Zurich Art Museum, among others.
