ATTRIBUTED TO HENDRICK VAN SOEST, ANTWERP, CIRCA 1690, THE SYCAMORE-INLAID INDIAN ROSEWOOD AND MAHOGANY STAND, ENGLISH, LATE 18TH CENTURY
The rectangular fold-over top enclosing a brass and pewter-inlaid interior with central baize panel and three cedar-lined compartments, the hinged lids centred by oval engraved brass plaques, the borders inset with oval mother-of-pearl panels engraved with mottos, the upper part with two end frieze drawers, the base with wavy frieze on tapering octagonal legs with ball feet, the two additional legs to one long side hinged to support the top when open, the drawers numbered in blue crayon
30 ¼ in. (77 cm.) high; 35 in. (88.5 cm.) wide; 13 in. (33 cm.) deep unextended
