(i) A leaf from a noted Breviary, in Latin, manuscript on vellum [France or Germany, c.1200]. 330 x 240mm., up to 21 lines of text and French notation, the text from the Feast of St Catherine, rubrics and initials in red, 16th-century marginal inscriptions in German dated 1597 and 29 May 1598 (text a little smudged and faded, marginal staining, edges frayed, some cockling). Mounted and framed.
(ii) A leaf from a Gradual, in Latin, decorated manuscript on vellum [Germany, 14th century]. c.300 x 220mm. 8 lines of text and music in hufnagelschrift notation, the text with psalm and gradual for Easter Monday, contemporary foliation 'clxxxvi' circled in red in upper margin, rubrics and initials in red, large calligraphic initials in brown ink with green and red flourishing. Mounted and framed.
(iii) A leaf from a Book of Hours, in Dutch, decorated manuscript on vellum [Utrecht?, late 15th century]. c.135 x 95mm. 21 lines, ruled space: 93 x 63mm., the text from the end of matins and the beginning of lauds from the Hours of the Virgin in a Book of Hours, flourished penwork initial 'G' opening lauds, with scrolling three-sided penwork border in red and blue ink, initials alternately in red or blue, rubrics in red. Mounted and framed.
(iv) David in Penitence, miniature on a leaf from an illuminated Book of Hours on vellum [Germany, perhaps Nuremberg?, early 16th century]. c.125 x 90mm. The miniature opening the Seven Penitential Psalms in a Book of Hours (somewhat faded and rubbed, with loss of pigment especially to the sky and the angel, some show-through of text). Mounted and framed.
(v) Two leaves from a printed illuminated Book of Hours [Paris, first quarter 16th century]. Each c.170 x 105mm., the first with a large miniature depicting Job on the Dungheap opening the Office of the Dead; the second with two panel miniatures on recto and verso depicting Diligence riding a horse tripping up Sloth riding a donkey with a staff (labelled 'Diligense trebuche Paresse') and Sobriety on a horse tripping up Gluttony on a wild boar ('Sobriete trebuche Gloutonie'), the text from the Seven Penitential Psalms; up to 27 lines of text, illuminated initials on red or blue grounds throughout, all framed within a full border. Mounted and in double-sided frames.
