One page, vellum, 68 x 310mm (visible). (vertical creases, some text toward right margin faded). Framed with an engraving of Newton by Houbraken after Kneller.

Isaac Newton summons a witness in a counterfeiting case. Newton, the Master of the Royal Mint, issues a summons to a coffeman by the name of Kiftell in St. Margaret's Parish to testify what he knows about Samuel Tibbs "counterfeiting … current Coyn of this Realm…." In December of the same year, Newton would become Master of the Mint, a post he held until his death in 1727.
