JAPAN, LATE HEIAN PERIOD (11TH-12TH CENTURY)

Carved from Japanese bigleaf magnolia in single block technique (ichiboku-zukuri) as a Shinto deity (kami) standing, her arms in front of the body, wearing courtly gown, with traces of color pigments

Height: 38 ½ in. (97.8 cm)
