AMERICAN POLITICS AND FOREIGN POLICY

A quantity of books relating to 20th-century American politics and foreign policy.

A collection of books relating to American politics and foreign policy, all but one with presentation inscriptions to the Edens, some with very warm and affectionate sentiments. These reveal that Dean Acheson, 51st U.S. Secretary of State, responsible for establishing the foreign policy of the Harry S. Truman administration from 1949 to 1953, particularly in relation to the Truman Doctrine, the Marshall Plan and NATO, seems to have had warm relations with Anthony Eden. Similarly, Averell Harriman, responsible for negotiating the US Lend-Lease agreements with the Allies during the Second World War, appears to have had a warm regard for Eden.
